Have to hand it to Blogger, the editing tools are easy, just finished modifying the templates and everything works..!! wish I could say the same for a piece of Oracle trigger code i've been trying to get to work for the last two days.. time to take a cue from Sikander, cut the knot instead of wasting time trying to untie it
Actually went to see LOTR on the 12:01 am showing at a local megatheatre. The movie surprised me, and it should surprise the legions of LOTR and Tolkein fans out there. Peter Jackson was remarkably faithful to the book though he did cut out the boring bits where a dithering Frodo cannot seem to make up his mind on whether or not to leave the womb of his Shire. Fatty Bolger is out, so is Tom Bombadil and his lady Goldberry and the entire amusing but irrelevant escapade in the Old Forest. Goldberry who as fans will recall was meant to be fairer than Galadriel herself...! So who might be fairer than Cate B. ? The movie gained an intensity of action and conveyed a new sense of frenzy during Frodo's flight from the Shire that does credit to what is essentially a modern retelling of an old tale.
Wonder how many people caught the fact that Gandalf's conversation with Frodo in the mines of Moria was actually taken from an earlier scene in the book from the Shire. Still, it felt appropriate. I feel destiny catching up with me... watch it again, an unseen elvish voice claims..
Merry Christmas to you all

Just got turned on to the fascinating world of Blogging after several months of creeping around Instapundit and several such excellent blogs. I guess time alone will tell how much pontificating and soul-baring on the Web I am prepared to do.
I've been keeping an amzed eye on the little game of explosive nuclear chess unfolding around my native neighbourhood of India. I have to say sp far I am very impressed by the slow but inexorable turn of the diplomatic thumbscrews by the Indian government on our dear friend Musharraf. He must not be sleeping very well.. US special forces rummaging through the Al-Qaida trash in his backyard, the Indian's threatening to hoist his crummy b**t on several petards.. It is also quite uncanny how the current diplomatic position mirrors the start of the Indo-Pak war of 1971 which rapidly escalated into a political-military engagement and ultimately created a new nation state. Perhaps a carving up of Pakistan by Iran and India is going to be the geo-political event of 2002..!!
